The Flos Splugen Brau Pendant, designed by Achille Castiglioni. PL382

Born in Milan in 1918, Achille Castiglioni graduated in architecture in 1944 and dedicated himself to architecture, urban planning and design with his brothers Livio ((1911-1979) and Pier Giacomo (1913-1968). Together they experimented with new forms, techniques and materials, aimed at developing a process of "integral design". In 1969 he was nominated Professor of Artistic Industrial Design; he chaired the Faculty of Architecture in Turin until 1980 and taught in Milan until 1993 as Professor of Industrial Design at the Polytechnic of Milan. MoMA’s permanent collection in New York holds fourteen of their works.

The Splugen Brau Suspension Lamp is a suspension fixture providing direct lighting. The simple design of this Italian lamp combined with a polished and protected transparent paint, spun aluminum reflector. It has a steel ceiling fitting and a vacuum-formed ABS rose with gloss white finish with a piece praised for its aesthetic as well as its utility.

The Splugen Brau pendant lamp is a remake of a piece originally made in 1961 for the Splugen beerhouse in Milan which no longer exists. Its understated simplicity and elegance have made Splugen Brau a timeless piece, perfect for any application, over your dining table, kitchen island, or minibar. The fixture provides direct light which can be dimmed to suit the mood.
