The layered grain of plywood is prominently featured in the Arturo Alvarez Shio Grande Pendant, using the natural lines of the material as the textural focal point. The light peaks through the slender openings which is tinted according to the different laminate finishes of the smooth interior sides. This unique use of material reinvents the familiar tapered shade, conducting a wide radius of light below and around the fixture.
